AIF Midpoint Conference - photos

AIF Fellows met for our group conference at Anandwan, an ashram for lepers, blind, deaf, mute and otherwise disabled folk a few hours outside of Nagpur, Maharashtra. On its surface (at least), Anandwan seemed a paradise for outcasts, a rare and wonderful place.

what i'm reading now

“I suddenly realized that if I wanted to stay there, in Bombay, the city I’d already fallen in love with, I had to change. I had to get involved. The city wouldn’t let me be a watcher, aloof and apart. If I wanted to stay, I had to expect that she would drag me into the river of her rapture, and her rage. Sooner or later, I knew, I would have to step off the pavement and into the bloody crowd, and put my body on the line.”

swimming!

This past Sunday morning, some of the guys from work took me swimming in an irrigation canal just outside of Madurai. Good fun was had by all.

Except, perhaps, the goat.
